Juliet Mendoza on winning the Grand Prize of the Phone Call Story Contest

A few months ago we came up with the idea of creating a phone call contest to be sponsored by Orange. The grand winner would be the author who has the highest number of votes and Juliet Mendoza bagged the honor of winning the $1000. Juliet, unknown to us, is one of the caregivers who came forward and tell us that she had found a good job, her current job now, thru the iSavta.co.il. And this is what she has to say about the contest... This is a link to her story, you can read it here. “I was asked to write a few words summarizing my experience in this contest. At first, I hesitated; after all, it was just a contest. What larger meaning or value could a contest like this really offer? But when I thought about it, I realized that I was coming away from this experience with a lot more than just $1,000. I should mention that my first idea for my entry for this contest was about a conversation I had with my 7-year old daughter. It was a touching conversation, but I sensed that it would be fairly typical of the kind of entry a contest like this would probably receive. Around that same time, I received the (now famous) phone call from my sister and it struck me that this could make an interesting story - with an important message as well. I felt good about submitting this entry and was told by a few of friends that it might have a good chance of winning. As time went on, I saw that if I didn't try to actively pursue votes, my story had no chance at all. The process of contacting friends, relatives and acquaintances was a very educational one. As a result of it, I renewed contact with people I had not been in touch with for some time. This was, in and of itself, an important result of my having participated in the contest. But even more importantly, as a result of my trying to gain support for my entry, I actually was put in touch with many people I had never met before - some of whom went out of their way to try and help me. This was a very inspiring thing for me and today, most of them are now friends of mine on FB and in real life. In conclusion, I want to thank iSavta for having given me the opportunity to meet many lovely people and for allowing me to tap into my creative abilities. Who knows.. maybe I'll decide to be a writer one day..hehehehe..." And this is what we have to say, “Some people dream of success, while others wake up and work hard on it”.
